AVC Export Error & Frame Freeze Issues

Good afternoon! I hope you’ve all been doing well. I wanted to provide a heads up on two issues we encountered: H.264 Combined Per Pixel Video export failure at high resolution, Depthkit Combined Per Pixel Video freeze midway through playback. For now we can export at a lower resolution with AVC/H.264 or use HEVC. Is the video export freeze/driver issue expected to be addressed in a future update? We’re able to export from the main capture machine after rolling back to the recommended driver version (553.62), though the rest of our workstations are on a newer driver version with this issue. Thank you as always! -Eugene

@EmersonCollege Apologies for the slow reply here. We wanted to test some workarounds for the issues you referenced, as we do not currently have direct fixes slated. We will continue to assess, but in the meantime, hopefully these workarounds will work. Please let us know!

  • The freezing playback issue can be sidestepped by rolling back the GPU to 553.62. It’s worth noting that we are currently unable to reproduce this issue with the identified problematic driver version, so another factor like OS update may have resolved this.
  • The failed high-res h.264 issue can be sidestepped by export using the HEVC/H.265 codec instead of H.264, export at a lower resolution, or reverting Windows 11 back to version 23H2 or earlier.
  • Both issues can be sidestepped by exporting image sequences in Depthkit then encoding to H.264 using FFMPEG or other 3rd party encoder. This workflow has been verified to work with the latest version of Windows 11 and latest Nvidia GPU drivers.
