Just wanted to update on this. We had a great time up in Canda with OCAD and Dames Making Games and also had a great time taking some of the new Depthkit tools out into the wild.
For a full rundown of the weekend’s happenings, we kept a tweet thread running here.
I’ll post some pics though here though for reference!
The arrival at OCAD.
Dame Making Games did a great job to setup and kick off the game jam, doing some scene setting around Volumetric Capture in general as well as guiding people to what they should try to build in the span of 2 days.
We did a Depthkit workshop as well at the start of the first full day and walked everyone through using the new toolset! It went so much faster than when we required people to calibrate in the past. Huzzah for sensor only capture + enhancement workflows.
Part of the reason we (Scatter) were there was to work on VVV (Volumetric Video in Videogames) research project with the team from OCAD, so part of our time there was spent in design workshops. Enjoy the pictures of gesticulating while talking about old FMV games and The Future.
Here’s some general pictures from the jam, notice all the sensors laying around and such (and some secrect realsense captures happening )
Obviously we had to get some poutine
And we got a tip to go to Maha’s Brunch for amazing Egyptian food
At the end of the jam period, people got up to present their presentations to the rest of the people in the jam. All of the projects were incredibly different from each other, and we were so excited to see Depthkit being used in so many different ways!
And with that we close out the event! Thanks so much to everyone who came out, and we look forward to the next Depthkit workshop! We also hope that some of the DMG + OCAD people show up on the forum soon enough, so maybe they’ll be able to talk about their experience here soon as well.
