Pairing accuracy 0%

Hey,
We’re trying to pair our Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 6K (with Irix 15mm f/2.4 lens) with a Kinect, but we’re running in some issues with the pairing accuracy. The three scores of the pairing evaluation are moderately well, but the paring accuracy is 0% or close to 0%.

We’ve made 2 Lens Correction Profiles, and did 3 pairing captures with dozens of samples. We’ve switched the Kinect between pairings to rule out faulty hardware. All three attempts result in extremely low pairing scores. We’re not new to DepthKit and have done succesful pairings in the past. Any idea what could be happening?

Dear @doubleA -

Sorry to see you are running into issues with your pairing. This isn’t something we’ve seen before, and is likely a bug with the error metric system. Understood that this is creating the extra work that this debugging has created for you during your calibration process

We’ll need to have access to your full camera pairing media and project file to diagnose the issue.

In the meantime, if you can look at the pairing results in the 3D viewport, that is the real source of truth. So if it looks good to you visually, you are fine to move forward to shoot with your pairing. If you aren’t sure, feel free to attach some 3D zoomed in close-up image examples showing how the Cinema samples projected onto depth data, focusing on the edges and the little white dots with rings to see how well they are aligning.

For a clearer description of this, see the Alignment Indicators in the 3D Viewport in the “How Do I Read the my Pairing Evaluation

We’ll be able to diagnose the issue with 0% score if we can see the media and some examples.
